URL Shortcuts in PACOS

In version 2.4, a URL shortcut feature has been added to PACOS. With this URL shortcut feature, you can send other people a direct link to a specific page of the PACOS system with the program and or or course you would like to show automatically selected and shown. For example, you can use this feature like this:

The user clicking on the URL shortcut will be asked to log in to the PACOS system in the usual way before he/she can view the information.

URL Shortcut for the Summaries Page

The URL shortcut for the 'summaries' page allows you to select the program to show. The URL shortcut is in this format:

http://the domain of your PACOS system/summary.php?program=program code

The program code is the program code for the program you want to show. Look at the end of this page for more details on how to find the program code for a program.

For example, if you want to show the program BEng Computer Science and Engineering, which is program code 5414, then you can use a link similar to this:

http://www.server.org/pacos/summary.php?program=5414

The URL shortcut for the 'programs' page allows you to select the program to show. The URL shortcut is in this format:

http://the domain of your PACOS system/edit.php?program=program code

The program code is the program code for the program you want to show. Look at the end of this page for more details on how to find the program code for a program.

For example, if you want to show the program BEng Computer Science and Engineering, which is program code 5414, then you can use a link similar to this:

http://www.server.org/pacos/edit.php?program=5414

 

URL Shortcut for the Courses Page

The URL shortcut for the 'courses' page allows you to select the course to show. The URL shortcut is in this format:

http://the domain of your PACOS system/course_edit.php?prefix=prefix&code=course code

The prefix is the prefix of the course code for the course you want to show. The course code is the code number of the course code for the course you want to show.

For example, if you want to show the course COMP 104, its prefix is COMP and its course code is 104. Then you can use a link similar to this:

http://www.server.org/pacos/course_edit.php?prefix=COMP&code=104

 

URL Direct Link for Showing Course Information

This direct link is different from the above 3 shortcuts. The page generated by this direct link does not have the menu shown at the top.

This direct link allows you to show details of a course in a program in a web page format suitable for embedding in another web page (i.e. an iframe). The direct link is in this format:

http://the domain of your PACOS system/export.php?program=program code&code=course code with prefix

The program code is the program code for the program the course belongs to. Look at the end of this page for more details on how to find the program code for a program.

The course code with prefix is the course code for the course you want to show.

For example, if you want to show the course COMP 1004 in the program BEng Computer Science and Engineering, which is program code 5414, then you can use a link similar to this:

http://www.server.org/pacos/export.php?program=5414&code=COMP 1004

Where to Find the Program Code for a Program?

You can find the program code of a program by visiting the 'reports' page, which lists all the programs stored in your PACOS system.
